Do you ever wonder who the mastermind is behind some of your favorite Friendly Toast dishes? Some may look at our menu, see the word burrito, and think, “that shouldn’t be on the breakfast menu,” well contraire my friend. At the Friendly Toast Restaurant we believe breakfast shouldn’t be ordinary, but extraordinary. The genius behind the delicious Meg’s American Breakfast Burrito spills it all in this exclusive interview.
What gave you the Inspiration for Meg’s American Breakfast Burrito? “I’ve had similar burritos before, and I just love a good breakfast burrito. I thought the menu needed a burrito that was simple, yet still had the power of flavor. I mean who doesn’t love all the breakfast essentials wrapped up together in a burrito?”
Where were you when you thought of it? “I remember several years ago I had mentioned the idea to one of the owners and he had asked me for specific ingredients. To be completely honest, I never thought it would make it on the menu. It was a little while after the new menu had come out that I saw it for the first time. After a fun night out in Portsmouth, my boyfriend Tyler had a huge urge to get some late night food at the Toast (a very frequent occurrence since they serve breakfast until 2am on the weekends). Often times I would just get french toast, but Tyler insisted I take a look at the menu. That was when I saw it, “Meg’s American Breakfast Burrito.” I was so excited and truly honored, it was a great end to a wonderful night.”
What exactly is in a Meg’s American Breakfast Burrito? “The ingredients consist of scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and cheese. We let the customers choose whatever cheese they fancy most.”
Do you ever put your own twist on it? “It’s great when you dip it in salsa or even add avocado.”
What other item on the menu is your favorite? “That is a very tough question! I’m a huge fan of the french toast, I swear it’s the best I’ve ever had. But the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict is out of this world. And the Marcus O’Relious, who doesn’t love a good Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese!”
So come on in, whether it be a 2am last stop or a next morning cure, and taste Meg’s American Breakfast Burrito for yourself.
